The
Theatre Department at Emory &
Henry College
All programs focus on understanding the interdependence of all elements in a theatrical production and the essential connection between theory, literature, and practice. Therefore, theatre students are trained equally in both practical and academic aspects of theatre and are encouraged to participate in all aspects of production in order to become well-rounded theatre artists. Both the General Theatre major and the four specialized tracks combine in-depth academic preparation with extensive production work. Pre-professional B.A. Degrees The Theatre department in Association with Barter Theatre offers a pre-professional training program with four areas of specialization: Acting, Directing, Musical theatre, and Production/Design. Students in the sequenced-based rigorous training program accumulate skills which build upon each other over the course of four years. In-depth academic preparation is combined with extensive production work. Continuation in the pre-professional program depends on the excellent academic performance and demonstrated artistic growth of the student assessed at the end of each academic year. A student is expected to have a 3.0 GPA at the end of her/his sophomore year in order to continue in the Pre-professional program or s/he needs to move into the regular major in Theatre (this requirement to be added in the Catalogue) |
