Department of Theatre Scholarships The theatre department of Emory & Henry College awards a number of four-year scholarships to promising young theatre students. Awards are achieved by audition and/or interview, and are available in the performance (acting, directing, musical theatre), the production (scenic, lighting, costume, and make-up design) areas. Talent scholarships are designed as four-year awards for theatre majors and minors. In order to ensure the continuation of the stipend, a student must stay in residence for four consecutive years at Emory & Henry College, maintain a good academic standing be s visible part of the theatre program. The Emory & Henry Theatre Department would like to invite you to its annual THEATRE SCHOLARSHIP DAY on February 21TH, 2009 as part of the general Emory and Henry SCHOLARSHIP DAY. This is your chance to meet our faculty, students, and potential classmates, share your talents, ask questions, and check out the campus and the surrounding area. The Theatre Department at Emory & Henry College offers one of the most progressive and exciting theatre programs in the Southeast. Whether you are interested in pre-professional training in acting, directing, musical theatre, design/ production or a broad-based general theatre degree, E&H is interested in your academic and artistic needs. Guidelines for Interviews/Auditions/Portfolio Reviews Interviews/Auditions/Portfolio Reviews are required for acceptance into the Pre-professional training program in Association with Barter Theatre. If you are considering specialization in one of our four pre-professional tracks (Acting, Directing, Musical Theatre, or Design and Production), you will need to sign up for a 10 minute audition/interview slot and come prepared to share your talents and/or discuss your interests and goals. Please, check the guidelines provided below. If you are interested in our traditional broad-based General Theatre program or if you have not had extensive theatre experience, we do not require an interview/audition/portfolio review, but we strongly encourage you to sign up for a 10minute one-on-one session with E&H Theatre faculty to introduce yourself, discuss your plans, and ask questions. Pre-professional: Acting Prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues and bring your resume. The total audition should be under 3min. long. Pre-professional: Musical Theatre Prepare one monologue and a contrasting song from a musical and bring your resume. You must provide your own accompaniment on a CD or a standard cassette tape. Pre-professional: Directing Bring a portfolio of directing work from productions or class work to share with the Theatre faculty. If you do not have a portfolio, you can interview with theatre faculty. Pre-professional: Design or Technical Production Bring a portfolio with samples of your work (designs, drawings, photographs, or stage manager's book) to share with the Theatre faculty.
